I was lucky enough to find this book for purchase, there are few copies of the first ever Dark Lover and Lover Eternal in hardcover but it is amazing! I loved how the BDB series started with both someone inside the vampire world and someone like Beth outside of that world who would later come into the vampire world. I appreciated who the author included a glossary because that truly made this vampire story on its own. I know some readers of sick of vampires but I loved vampire based books, as long as they can stand on their own. And this is freaking badass! Beth, I liked how she didn't immediately accept she would become a vampire or who her father was. She might have jumped Wrath's bones (who wouldn't *eye roll*) but she didnt think it would automatically be a "relationship". Wrath in all this bossy nature, was sweet *giggles* he did that love-at-first-sight thing but with a kick-in-the-face. He knew Beth wasn't looking for protecting and king or not, she would not be bossed around. Then there was Rhage and Mary. Mary kind of killed me a little with her kindness and stubbornness. But I so get it...Mary didn't want to love someone who would end up watching her die and Rhage was too good to be true. And even when he wasn't she wanted to protect herself. While Rhage had never been in love, he wanted someone of worth. And he found that in Mary. He tore down her walls and got up in her space and owned her heart. He wasn't stepping down because Mary would be the best thing that ever happened to him whether she wanted to be or not.

There is not one series out that compares to the writings of this author. Each book is perfectly written. Captivated me from the very beginning. I fell in love with these characters and I don't want either series to end. Thank you so much for these books. Perfect Job!!!!

This is my favorite series of all time! Had to get the hardcover. Sweet!
Once you start reading it you figure out what different words mean, or you can always go back to chec to see just what the book is talking about when you read the explaination in the front of each book. Great stories, I love the strength and the weeknesses of the people in book, it makes them seem real. I am now reading the next "Lover Awakened" it starts in right behind "Lover Eternal" If you want to know what happens to some of the people in book you have to keep reading.
"Dark Lover" is about the reluctant king of the vampire society / member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood in Caldwell, NY. He fulfills his last oath to his dead "brother." He helps his friend's daughter through her difficult transition into becoming a full vampire. While doing this, he falls madly in love. There are lots of twists and turns in this book which makes it very "edge of your seat" interesting. It is not all hearts and flowers but the ending is great!!! "Lover Eternal" is about Rhage AKA Hollywood, one of the "brothers" in the Black Dagger Brotherhood. He accidently bumps into a human woman that he can not forget. While he is rapidly falling in love, his world is falling apart. She is dieing, he can't do anything about it, and he keeps having to deal with his "cursed" existence. The book brings you through the pitfalls and heart aches of a seemingly impossible relationship. As in life, you sometimes have to wade through thick and muddy waters to get to the clear serenity at the end. J. R. Ward (Jessica Bird) definitely delivers well written stories with extremely well developed characters and a clearly defined vampire society. The books have enough romantic angst that is not only believable but are situations that some of us deal with (these first two books but not be as similar to every day life but the following books are). The sex scenes are so explicit and steaming hot that you could use them as great examples of what to do to please your partner. The writing is so crisp and clear that you feel as though you just experienced what she has written. Great Work J. R. Ward! I love her!!!!
