I enjoyed this realistic story of an active duty Marine and the man that wanted to date her since high school. Kyle and Mary make a cute couple. I really like that Kyle was comfortable with his nerd status while Mary does not flaunt her obvious beauty. The fact that she was as beautiful inside was a bonus.This short story could have come together with a quick epilogue. The reader is left wanting to know how Kyle deals with Mary being deployed again. This is my first read by this author and I like her writing style and the editing was done well. I would certainly read another book by this author.

I came across this book by accident and the storyline caught my attention - (Beauty and the Geek) and so I decided to give it read. I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was great and it flowed beautifully. Most importantly however, the hero/heroine were very likable and resonate with me. It was also great to read about females in the military and their contribution and how they view themselves. I would love to read more about these two. The ending was a bit abrupt but it didn't detract from the story.
This was a cute story. The two main characters went to high school together. He had a crush on her but she was always busy with beauty pageants. For some reason, I like the fact that she didn't really enjoy the beauty pageants. She chose the military as a career to rebel against her mother's overbearing focus on her appearance. He has since become a software millionaire. I found these two characters to be very likeable. He wasn't super alpha male. He was a regular guy who was happy to finally have a shot at asking out his dream girl.
The beauty queen and the nerd. Mary Phillips was a beauty queen with a brain but most folks didn't look beyond her looks. Kyle Stewart was the high school nerd who made good. Mary joined the Marines where she is appreciated for more than looking fine. Home on leave Mary runs into Kyle who asks her to their high school reunion. They agree to make the most of the moments they have together.
I love Heather Long's Always a Marine series. Most can be read stand-alone. I'd say they were a perfect lunchtime read but I can't imagine going back to work after reading the steamy scenes. Please pick up one of these and you will be just as hooked as I am.
This is the first story I have read by Mrs. Long. I enjoyed the plot of this book. A young girl wanted to be just normal and mother wanted her to be the Barbie doll. I enjoyed how to old high school friends had a crush on one and the other didn't know about it. This was a sweet read.
What a great continuation to the series! Mary and Kyle gave each other a chance to get to really know each other which led to the beginning of their relationship. I can't wait to see where they end up. It was also wonderful seeing Jazz and her fiancées.
Another winner by Heather Long.
Totally loved this story. She was not just another beautiful face she was that and more an ass kicking Marine. He was your nerd/geek that made a name for himself outta high school. Bump into each other at a coffee shop and boom the rest is as they say history...*happy sigh* just wish it was longer. I know I sound like a broken record but I wish it was longer.....=D
I have just started reading this author and it started with the first two books in the series. The writing is impecable and the characters are so wonderful. I love the connection back to Jazz and her men and can't wait for the other ladies story and for them to all reconnect. There is more to these two and hope we get to see a completion of this story. Way to go Heather. I am usually strictly an IR reader but your writing will have me reading more of this series because of the diversity of all of the characters in these stories.
