I read this story in one cross country flight, so it's a relatively easy read. I am old enough to admit to reading all of Ms. Bradford's books as they have been released, starting w/ A Woman of Substance. Frankly, I don't think anything she has written since measures up to that book, although I love her writing and her plot lines. Master of His Fate is a great story, and really has the potential to be so much more. I mostly liked the character development, although I thought the last two chapters were particularly weak. There was a lot of foreshadowing, so I wasn't surprised at all by the plot lines, but that said, I thought the book ended too abruptly. I realize Book 2 and Book 3 are coming, but Book 1 should have had a more thoughtful ending. There probably needed to be a little bit of resolution at the end of Book 1, but we will see what happens when Book 2 is released next year. A lot of time an author with this much experience "calls it in" and I didn't get that sense at all. I thought there was a lot of character development, which doesn't always happen with experienced authors.

Master of His Fate The House of Falconer Series Barbara Taylor Bradford 9781250187390 Books Reviews

Basically this book just introduced the characters and families that will start the story for the books to come. It was written in a British manor. I would recommend reading it.
It took me a little while to get into the story but when it did I really enjoyed it. The descriptions of the territory and the characters was wonderful.
So glad she’s written another novel which will follow several more in in The House Of Falconer! Didn’t want to read too fast, hopefully the next in the series. Enjoy, I
A multifamily saga in Victorian England. I very much enjoyed this first book of a trilogy and eagerly anticipate the second and third one. If you enjoy intricate family stories, this is for you.
Her novels frequently take place in England. I find the every day life in England before WWII fascinating. Her descriptions of places/homes and fashion are done with style and it is easy to picture the people and places. Plot is somewhat obvious long before the story ends. I continue to read her books because of the way she presents the life and times in England.
This was the appeaser book I've ever seen n't this author. Normally I like hysterical novels but I could not read this. I kept trying but finally had to go to the and so I could say how boring and disinterest I found it. Was forcing myself to slug through it simply because I'd bought out and kept thinking 'it HAS to get better soon! It didn't - I quit and that is not like new at all.
This book was completely overdone in the descriptions of characters, their clothing, what they ate, the rooms they were in . . . I wanted to scream at what seemed to be the fiftieth time that a woman was described as having curls piled on top of her head. The repetition was absolutely maddening. And the story itself was not very interesting at all. I wish this author luck with the rest of the series. I for one have zero desire to read anything else by her.
